While most spiders are harmless and provide beneficial insect control, there are some species that pose a potential threat to humans. Spiders like black widows and brown recluses are venomous and have the potential to cause serious damage to people and animals if bitten. That said, these spiders are not aggressive and usually only bite humans when disturbed. At EcoGuard Pest Management we are experienced and knowledgeable in all forms of spider treatment methods from local treatment to web clearing. EcoGuard utilizes integrated pest management (IPM) and have been providing spider control services since 2008. We understand how difficult it is for most people to deal with arachnids as they generally cause fear and anxiety. However, our goal is to ensure that spiders do not get a chance to reproduce and cause an infestation.

Famously known for its red hourglass markings, these spider bites can be extremely painful and require immediate medical attention. While they are commonly found around our homes, Black Widows prefer quiet dark places and rather not be disturbed. Their webs can be easily identified by their sporadic and disorganized designs. Males are much smaller than their female counterparts and are not considered dangerous.
Wolf spiders are agile hunters and have excellent eyesight. They often live alone and are observed pouncing on prey and chasing over short distances. These spiders can live up to 11 years and can grow up to almost 2 inches.
These are some of the most common spiders we see around our homes. They have very long legs and prefer dark, cool, damp areas.
Sometimes confused for Black Widows. These are the most common spider found across the United States. They are normally brown in color and have a roundish body shape.
These spiders are commonly known for building their webs across our bushes and shrubs. They are very fast builders and can generally be found hiding in their webs
Staying true to their name, brown recluses stay “reclusive” whenever possible. That said, if they are disturbed, they can inflict injury as their venom has the potential to cause some serious damage. They are about a half inch in size and are usually brown with a violin shaped marking.

Inspection & Identification
A licensed spider extermination technician will search a property for webs and other areas that spiders might use as harborage points. The inspection will also result in a discussion on preventative measures that can be implemented to prevent spiders in the future.
Chemical Pesticide Application
Our licensed technicians will lay down an exterior perimeter pesticide application as a barrier to prevent spiders from entering a home. Not only will this prevent spiders, but it will also prevent other bugs they prey on from entering as well which should reduce the available resources spiders need. In addition to the exterior application, interior will also be sprayed in areas that are potential harborage sites or entry points to ensure that the poisons are left to infect any new spiders that might take residence.
Web Removal
Once an area has been treated any remaining webs can be removed. These are often in tough to reach areas inside and outside of your home so having a professional come clean areas that might get overlooked will ensure that all webbing is found and eliminated.
EcoGuard’s licensed and trained spider exterminators are qualified to assist in implementing reactive treatment options no matter which spider species you have. In addition, we can also provide you with preventative measures to help keep spiders away in addition to web removal services.
The average cost to hire a spider exterminator will vary greatly depending on severity of infestation and size of treated area. That said, the national average for a one time spider exterminator visit is right around $275, but typically falls between $200-$500.
Generally, whenever you find a lot of spiders in your house, it means that they are finding enough food and resources available to survive. If there is enough of an on-going pest problem, this could lead to a wider spread spider infestation. If there are signs of spiders or other pest populations in your house, call EcoGuard Pest Control to get a technician out for an inspection.
