Commonly known as the house cricket, these crickets are bread commercially to be used as pet food. In Japan and China they are bread to be pets themselves, and in some other countries they are bread for human consumption. Their complete life cycle takes about 2-3 months and their preferred temperature is 79-90 degrees Fahrenheit.

This crickets name comes from its spider like legs and slight hump in its back. Unlike other types of crickets these adults don’t have wings. They are commonly found around greenhouses and will become quite the pest if they make it inside your home. Camel crickets don’t chirp, which makes them harder to find. They prefer damp areas such as wood piles or under rocks. Ivy and other forms of ground cover make a great place for this cricket to live.
